Italy – General strike and Air Traffic Controllers Industrial Action
12th December 2014
EasyJet has been advised of a national general strike across Italy from 10:00 to 18:00 local time. This will run alongside an Air Traffic Controllers strike from 13:00 to 17:00 local time on Friday 12th December. Every airline flying to and from Italy, as well as those flying within Italian airspace, will be affected. Despite, this being beyond the easyJet’s control, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
We are doing everything possible to minimise the impact to our customers and we have proactively taken the decision to cancel some flights to allow customers to re-organise their travel plans.
All customers on the affected flights will be informed by SMS and email. Up to date information on the situation will be also be available on easyJet.com.
For cancelled flights, any affected customers will be offered a free of charge transfer to a new flight or a full refund. We strongly advise customers who wish to travel and want to rebook easyJet flights to AVOID rebooking flights on the same day (Friday 12th) as there is the possibility of further disruption that could cause further cancellations.
For real time information we strongly recommend that all customers flying to/ from Italy on Friday 12th December check the status of their flight on our Flight Tracker before going to the airport. If you are using our mobile website (m.easyjet.com) or mobile apps on either iOS or Android devices we strongly urge you to subscribe to push notifications and you’ll automatically receive updates relevant to your flight.+
Desperately bad news for all of those who intended to fly to Italy on Friday.
The KSM tours will leave as scheduled early tomorrow morning. If you are booked on one of these tours, please do not respond to this. Just get to your meeting point early tomorrow or at Gatwick as arranged.
